Paul Olander, LCSW, MSW, JD, CCM, NBCCH, RRT-C

My approach to therapy involves establishing an authentic connection with the person in front of me, demonstrating that I hear clearly what they are experiencing and mutually developing a target of where they want to go. I integrate various clinical perspectives and interventions to get these components accomplished, including: Rapid Resolution Therapy, Trauma Informed Hypnotherapy, Attachment Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Internal Family Systems. I also have prior training in Cognitive-Behavioral and Dialectic Behavior Therapy as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and use elements of those clinical orientations when they are useful. My goal is to help each person I work with function more effectively and powerfully in their own life by increasing their ability to clear and focus internal thoughts, emotions and bodily awareness so the person can participate more effectively in all of their external relationships. In the past I have worked with individuals, couples, families and groups in both inpatient and outpatient settings as a clinician and as an Administrative Director. I have been the Director of Behavioral Health, Case Management and Palliative Care Services for a local hospital system over the last 17 years and have been in the Behavioral Health field in various roles for the past 23 years. My current focus in my private psychotherapy practice is on working with individual clients who have experienced trauma, anxiety, unresolved grief, “stuck” depression, shame, and disruption of personal or occupational relationships, with or without accompanying substance abuse. As I have deep experience in working with physicians, nurses, other healers, and attorneys I understand the special challenges involved in their professions and am available, interested and qualified to help them therapeutically.
